We recruit people of all ages and from all walks of life: from professionals seeking a bit of peace from the rat race of western life, to students taking a year out or wanting to use their summer vacation productively.

How long you stay in Ladakh is up to you, but we prefer people who can commit at least two months to our projects.  Most volunteers will go in the summer season, between the end of May to October, before the harsh winter sets in.  Winter stays, however, can be arranged.

Some previous teaching experience or a TEFL qualification, is essential, as is a high grasp of the English language.  Teaching conditions are basic and textbooks may be non-existent – thus it is vital that you have a realistic grasp of what is expected from you.  Effort must be put into your own self-preparation before you go and the LNA have several TEFL books for reference whilst in Ladakh.  We are always on hand to provide necessary teaching assistance in the UK should it be required.
